Purge

So for my birthday a very good friend gave me this great book The Organized Mom, because of some very obvious reasons I have just now gotten around to reading it. It inspired me to start super organizing my house. I started with the laundry room. Why the laundry room you may ask, well it is small and doesn't house much. I was amazed to find that a room only big enough for a washer, dryer and a shelf could have so much, long story short that room is good. The next plan is to put up another shelf and a fold down laundry table. I than moved on to the bathroom (ok so far the only thing I have organized in there was under the sink). Today I started tackling the kitchen. We are not people who can do a yard sale because we don't hang on to things we don't need or have space for; however since going through the kitchen I have discovered so much stuff I don't have any need for. I have tons of cook books or recipe magazines...how many of them do I use, not even half. I now have a totally empty shelf in my kitchen and have no idea what to put on it. My "donate" pile is getting bigger by the minute and I don't even have a good box! I cannot wait to see what my house looks like when I am totally finished organizing.

Blogs Part 2

This week I was so excited to get some projects finished that I was beginning to ignore my house. I am glad to say that the projects are finished and I did have a cleaner house (too tired to keep up the clean some days)! I decided to make a diaper bag because diaper bags are are so expensive these days. Last week I saw a really cute diaper bag a mom was carrying so I asked where she got it and she told me she made it. She gave me the blog address for the tutorial she used. I actually found a tutorial I liked better than the first, the one I used has lots of pockets inside and out. I looked and looked for some material I wanted to use and still ended up using the same material this lady used for the exterior of her bag ( I just thought it was cute). I really love my new diaper bag. I then decided to use the scraps and make a coordinating wipes case. And found some other material that kind went well to make a cute changing pad. The titles underneath are all links to the wonderful tutorials I used.

Blogs

I so much love other blogs that share fun, creative tutorials for so many things. I have been able to make so many things without having to purchase a single pattern; thanks to these fabulously talented women who share their creations with the rest of us who love to craft but have a small budget to do so. The pictures below are things I have made thanks to these wonderfully crafty women and there wonderful tutorials. I have some other projects in the works that I have found awesome tutorials on other blogs I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Blessing Day

Micaela took this one

Sierra Louise Adams

Sierra Louise Adams
August 26
7 lbs 1 oz
20 inches
We are so excited to have Sierra here at last! She is 6 weeks old now and has totally changed our lives (for the better). Sierra is so much different than her sister was, she is IN CHARGE. When Sierra wants to eat, needs a change, is tired, or bored she better get what she needs or the whole world will know! She has a great set of lungs! She keeps us smiling with her beautiful smile. Sierra loves her big sister and of course Micaela loves her. We are so blessed to have as part of our family and are looking forward to watching her grow.

Best and Worst dressed

While watching the Oscars Micaela focused on what every little girl loves dresses. It was fun to see which dresses Micaela would give a thumbs up to and which dresses should never be seen again.First thumbs down goes to Zoe Saldana and Carey Mulligan. Micaela's exact words were "Mom, those dresses are ugly." I really had to agree with her, I didn't like either dress. I mean what was up the the shiny rhinestone bodice and then the purple everything else, it looked like one dress didn't fit so she put another under it. Yuck! The black one...well it was just funny looking.

The other dresses that Micaela actually saw before going to bed were dresses she liked. Mo'Nique ("That blue dress is so pretty."). She was stunning!

Miley Cyrus and Amanda Seyfried both got thumbs up as well (a simple "I like those dresses.") Not really my favorite but Micaela like them.

In completely non-related news (and not that this comes as a second to the Oscars in anyway). I felt the little flutter of baby movements last night while relaxing and watching the Oscars. I love that feeling! I can't wait until I am feeling the baby move more often.

Our Adventure

****This was an extremely long day so it has potential to be a long post.****

We have had tickets to a Jazz game for awhile and since James car pools and didn't have to drive to work the plan was I would pick him up and we would find somewhere to have dinner before the game. Great plan huh? Well it didn't quite happen that way. James had to drive so what would we do? Yes, we own two cars however why would we want to drive both and waste the money. My brilliant idea, Micaela and I would take the bus and meet James at the Gateway Mall, problem solved. James went off to work and I went back to sleep. A few hours later Micaela and I would start our day.
Get up use the bathroom (unfortunately the water was turned off for an emergency repair). Micaela thought it was pretty funny that the toilet made a different sound and didn't refill, she was not as impressed with the fact that she could not wash her hands *gross*. While Micaela ate breakfast I tried to figure out the bus route we needed to take to be to the mall by 5:00. Wow, it was ridiculous, we had to get on a bus at 1:56 to be downtown in time. Now it was time to get dressed even though I had not showered yet, I had visiting teachers coming over and I needed to be dressed and get the living room cleaned.
By noon the water was still not on so we opted to run some errands in hopes the water would be on by the time we got home. That wasn't the case though, the water was still off when we returned forty minutes later. So with not much time left before having to board our bus we ate lunch got our gear together and were off for the bus stop. Just as we were crossing the street the bus passed us by...10 minutes early I might add. It turned out it wasn't our bus, phew! Right on time we boarded the right bus and we were off. Well we were off for about 15 minutes at least, the right bus had to make a stop and wait for about 20 minutes or so but there was another coming up that we could get on that would have limited stops. While we were waiting for the other bus on our current bus (it was cold out, sunny but cold) we came upon a wallet. What to you do with a lost wallet on the bus well we gave it to the driver, and he called it in. Still while we were waiting the owner of the wallet came to check the bus, he had probably checked more than one bus by that point. He was so overcome with relief he was in tears; he hugged me, offered to by me lunch and Micaela an ice cream, I declined the offer but felt great for having helped this man. We than boarded our next bus bound for the Harmon's area (downtown West Valley City) where we would wait over and hour for the next bus. We wondered around the grocery store for a bit then went out to our stop to wait in the wind. Micaela of course would stay quite warm I made sure of that, I however froze. Finally about 10 minutes late our bus arrived we were headed for downtown Salt Lake one stop at a time!
We had a nice little chat with a man on the bus about kids. After he got off we sat in mostly silence for the rest of our journey. Our itinerary had us getting on another bus about 2 blocks over and 3 blocks up from the mall, I opted for walking the remainder of the way. That walk actually didn't happen because our current bus stopped right at the end of the mall, thus ending our 2 hour bus adventure!
By this point I needed some real food. I know we were going to meet James within an hour however if I didn't eat something other than candy I was going to be ill. Panda Express to the rescue. After finally getting my core temperature up with the warmth of the food court we ventured outside (as the gateway is an outdoor mall) to wander the shops. Nothing really caught my eye so it was back to the food court to wait for James who was running late. After arriving James, got some Panda as well and we wasted time letting Micaela play on all the "quarter" rides. We ventured out once more to cross the street to the Energy Solutions Arena for our first ever Utah Jazz game. To be honest the game wasn't that exciting but watching Micaela dance around and scream until her heart was content was pretty funny! The Jazz lost by...well I am not sure what the score was but I know it was somewhat close.
When we returned home the water was back on, we knew right away because Micaela didn't turn the faucet off after trying to wash her hands. We have no idea when the water came back on so luckily there was not flooding involved. The End

Baby Beat

Since I've been pregnant I have had 2 ultrasounds and have seen the baby's heart beat but not actually heard it...until today! I remember when we heard Miceala's heart beat the first time, I thought it was funny and tried so hard not to laugh so that we could actually hear the fast beat of her tiny heart. This time Micaela was with me and thought it was pretty funny herself. The little guy or girl had no interest in sitting still so it took a little while. If this lack of sitting still now is any indication of how life will be once he/she is born...I am in BIG trouble!!!

A look back

We didn't get many still pictures of Micaela's birthday it's all on video though. She really wanted a pinata so with mom being sick daddy and Micaela set out to find a great pinata, she chose a dolphin. Her cake was a blueberry jello cake with Tinker Bell and friends. It was a small party but everyone enjoyed themselves and had fun watching the kids try to whack the pinata that just wouldn't break! After all the fun and excitement Micaela fell asleep in the car and refused to wake up once home.

Two days before Christmas Micaela thought she would let mom and dad know she wanted Santa to bring her a sled. Santa had a little help but was able to get a sled. Micaela could not have been happier, she just had to try her sled out on the stairs at Grandma's! Instead we took her to the not so much snow covered "Cal Ranch" hill. She loved every minute of it and tried everything she could including going off some jumps. She is such a daredevil!

For Halloween our costumes were very last minute, with the exception of Micaela's (she knew she was going to be Tinker Bell for weeks). I threw on an old prom dress and a wig and turned into Cinderella (Micaela was so pleased) James threw on a poncho and barret and became the Argentine equivalent of a cowboy. After trick-or-treating at the mall we went to TGI Fridays for dinner in our costumes. To this day Micaela talks about Halloween, she loves that holiday!

Time went down the toilet!

I cannot believe it is already February, how crazy is that? We have been through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Micaela's Birthday and even Valentines day. Really I didn't have much of an excuse from November through Christmas...it was after that when it hit me!
We found out just before Christmas that we are expecting baby number two we are so excited! Right after Christmas the "morning" sickness hit me with the force of 10 Mac trucks! I only wish I was exaggerating. Because of my previous pregnancy complications I am seeing a specialist so I was seen at six weeks for an ultrasound. About a week after that appointment I was having IV treatments three times a week because I was dehydrated and could not keep a thing down.
Things are slowly starting to look up, I haven't had an IV treatment for a little over two weeks, wahoo! I am able to keep down Powerade and toaster waffles, so that is what I eat all day everyday. It's not the healthiest thing but it stays down and I don't have to be a human pin cushion! I am 12 weeks now so we are hoping the pregnancy sickness (as we like to call it) will go away soon so we may have some normalcy in our lives again, well for a few months at least! Micaela is excited to have a baby sister has already given her a name, Gabriella. It is a beautiful name, however it will not be a name we use! That is not an announcement however! It is still too soon to tell.
Now that it is February and most people have long given there wishes for a happy New Year and long given up those resolutions, here is to a New Year filled with joy and happiness and going better than it has so far!
